La Sortie des Usines Lumiere a Lyon
The workers leaving the Lumiere factory is about a bunch of factory employees leaving the Lumiere factory and was filmed in 1895 by Auguste and Louis Lumiere. The documentary was made by just setting up the camera a filming and there was no scripted movement. This is a very genuine documentary as it doesn't try to twist anything or make the audience think what they want. Also we can see that the workers where most likely unaware of the filming in process which allowed for a more authentic documentary.
Night Mail
Night Mail is a documentary that shows the process of mail being posted around the country from one place to another. This documentary is less truthfully than the 'La Sortie des Lumiere', documentary as this documentary has clearly been scripted and directed by the filmmakers. This is made obvious for a few reasons such as the birds eye view shot of the train which was really filmed using a model train set to show the movement of the mail form one location to another, it has been shot and framed by manipulating the environment in the offices and there is a lack of continuity. The Night Mail documentary was shot and edited to make the postage system seem a lot quicker than it actually was as it would just be boring to watch the long process of mail being posted, the mail being sent off and being delivered, so they shortened the process as a way of 'summing up' the mailing process.
When Louis met Jimmy
'When Louis met Jimmy', is a documentary written and narrated by Louis Theroux, in which he spends the weekend interviewing Jimmy Savile, under the impression that he was up to something. Throughout the documentary Louis follows and attempts to draw out information from Jimmy, whilst applying a voice over to explain what is happening and his personal views on the events and Jimmy Savile.
