Lynx Noir Advert Evaluation

Re-branding the Product
The brief was to create a new advert for an existing product and rebrand the product to target a different audience than it's existing audience. I believe that our advert successfully rebrands Lynx's existing audience as the advert is able to target an older audience by highlighting the difference between modern society and "The Good Old Days" without the use of propaganda about the times during the World wars. As the slogan "Good old days" could be misconstrued as saying that society has changed negatively over the years, so we decided to stay away from saying that society has neither gotten better or worse. To do this we decided to use the feeling of nostalgia to trigger a happy emotion in the audience.

We also decided to not use hypersexualisation in our advert as this is used in all Lynx adverts as Lynx is a product that targets young male teenagers and we felt that this would not work for our new audience and we were also not able to do this.

Technical Aspects
The technical aspects in our advert such as Editing and Cinematography, worked well there was a few things that could have been better. The editing went well once we had cut down the advert to fit the 1 minute 30 second maximum run time and the advert had good continuity throughout and worked well to convey the idea to the audience. When it came to the cinematography we were able to finish filming in just one day of shooting as we had to drive to the location of the talents' home. All went well except for a few minor setbacks such as the space we had to shoot in and the battery level of the camera required us to get the last few shots quickly, which is something that made me wish we had prepared for something like this before hand but all turned out well. If I could do something to improve my advert technically it would be to spend more time perfecting the sound editing of the advert. The sound worked well in the advert as it gave it a sense of authenticity but at some points it felt it wasn't in sync with the action.

Something that I would have done differently would be how the advert was shot as I felt that some of the shots didn't work very well or simply didn't need to be in the advert and to make sure that the end font is readable and that the voice over was clear. Also I would have spent more time planning for what could have gone wrong during production.

Finished Product Feedback
I collected the feedback for my advert by creating a survey asking my audience what they liked about the advert, how they felt it could be improved and if they would consider purchasing the product for themselves or others.

B. I believe that my advert was able to the convey the ideology of the advert and it would be able to convince them to buy the product and also have a positive impact on them as the advert doesn't have negative representation of the age, gender, class, religion or ethnicity of the audience. It also doesn't mentally or morally harm the audience or offend the audience of any social or cultural standards.

C. Mise-En-Scene
We used very normal locations and props in order for the audience to identify a domestic environment and also to determine the age of the owner such as the old fashioned clocks, living room and bathroom area which all connote a domestic environment. We also used the Christmas tree, Christmas decorations and the red ribbon to represent the Lynx product as an ideal Christmas gift.

D. I think that the narrative of my advert manages to sell the product to the target audience as the talent I used represents the target audience and the film noir style of the advert creates a sophisticated atmosphere throughout the majority of advert. The target audience would by this as through the narrative they can tell that the product is aimed at them.
